From an article in the Washington Post , see link to the article below.
In Trump's First term, there was an ICE raid on immigrants in a small town of
O-Neill Nebraska, I have relatives near there, and my grandparents had a farm not too far from there. It's a very small town, maybe 3,500 folks according to the article. The raid on immigrants had a big effect on the small businesses and farmers in the area. To this day they have not recovered.
Now many of the remaining immigrants, some legal, some not, are really worried about another big ICE raid of the area.
Here at corporate bastard, we recognize that most immigrants, legal and illegal are decent hard working folks. I do think Immigration has been a problem in our country for decades. And the situation does need to be fixed.
NOTE however, it is Congress's responsibility to create immigration laws that work for our country. Not the President's job. And they have not done that in a long time. Recently, they had a bipartisan plan to pass a new immigration law. That was sure to be better than the current situation. But Trump and his delegates pushed Congress to BLOCK THE BILL, INSTEAD OF PASSING IT
That is counter productive to how the three branches of government are supposed to work, and created a senseless situation that the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS USING TO CAPITALIZE ON THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF CONGRESS
In the end this doesn't really help the USA or the three branches of government.
In our opinion
Read this great write up on the immigration raid, and it's impact on that small town here.
