there are no limits on spending for elections, but they never fund public safety after elected
there are no limits on spending for elections, but they never fund public safety after elected

from an article in the New York times

water was flooding into a new York traffic tunnel. Also in the news - between Trump and the Harris campaigns for president, they probably spent $2 billion and more to get people to vote for them. We think the campaign finance laws are way out of bounds, especially when you look at dark money and PAC money that also flows into the candidates campaigns.

based on all the money flowing into these elections it’s easy to speculate they will favor rules and laws, tax incentives etc to repay the groups that contribute to them at that level

meanwhile important government responsibilities are overlooked, like funding to maintain this traffic tunnel, tons of bridges, a lot of neglected infrastructure that the government built or maintains is not getting funded!

the point is a restructuring of campaign finance laws are way overdue !! It’s no wonder it doesn’t look like the civic leaders are responsible to the public

let’s get that changed!!
